Silverbird Group, owners of MBGN and Mr. Nigeria franchises, is poised to raise the bar as it has unveiled West Africa’s first family oriented TV reality pageant show christened “Mother Daughter Pageant Nigeria” (MDPN) with the theme, Timeless Grace.

According to Guy Murray Bruce, the new initiative is designed to strengthen and deepen family bonds between mothers and daughters, and by extension, unite families. “For decades, Silverbird Productions has brought to Nigerians top quality events including MBGN and Mr. Nigeria Contest. MBGN is now in its 28th year and the pageant has produced a platform for many successful women including Agbani Darego and Nike Oshinowo among a host of others.

“Today, we are here to unveil to you not just another pageant but something far more special. This is a commitment towards strengthening family bonds, as these are the bonds that matter to us most. Today, we unveil the Mother Daughter Pageant Nigeria,” Murray Bruce said.

According to him, those eligible to contest are girls within the age bracket of nine and 16, with their biological or foster mothers. Murray Bruce added that 60 per cent of votes would come from the viewing public, 30 per cent from the judges while 10 per cent will come from the audience at the grand finale holding in Lagos in April 2015.

“The winning mother and daughter will go home with N2 million and a trip to Dubai including other fantastic prizes. The objective is to show and focus on how family qualities are passed from generation to generation and from mother to child,” Murray-Bruce said, adding that the sales of forms have kicked-off and are available at all Silverbird malls, and could also be downloaded online on the platform’s website.
